Law Enforcement District Proposition
Shall the Livingston Parish Law Enforcement District (the "District") be authorized to levy and collect a tax of one-half of one percent (1/2%) (the "Tax") (an estimated $9,800,000 is reasonably expected to be collected from the levy of the Tax for an entire year), commencing April 1, 2019, in perpetuity, upon the sale at retail, the use, the lease or rental, the consumption, the distribution and storage for use or consumption of tangible personal property and upon the sale of services within the District, all as presently or hereafter defined by law, and shall the proceeds of the Tax (after paying the reasonable and necessary costs and expenses of collecting and administering the Tax) be used exclusively for the purpose of providing additional funding for the operations of the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office, including, but not limited to, stationing Sheriff deputies in public schools throughout the Parish of Livingston in order to provide for the safety and security of the students and faculty therein?
